The Agro-Industrial Faculty was organized in 2015, although the training of specialists for agriculture at the institute has been conducted since its foundation in 1907 when engineering-reclamation was one of the four organized faculties. The training of highly qualified personnel for the agro-industrial clusters of the SFD in the South Russian State Polytechnical University (NPI) has been going on for many years, but now it has been decided to focus on training fundamentally new specialists widely in demand both in Russia and abroad.
Currently, the faculty consists of five departments:
“Automation and robotization of the agro-industrial complex and biosystem engineering”,
“Renewable and small energy”,
“Processing and packaging of agricultural products”, “Information systems and technologies in the agro-industrial complex” “Hydrotechnical structures and hydraulics”.
An experimental testing ground for “Natural modeling of agro-industrial robotic complexes”, research laboratories “Hydraulics” and “Renewable Energy Sources” are being created.
At the faculty, students are trained in five enlarged groups of areas of training and six areas of training bachelors and specialists. The target indicator for the Agro-Industrial Faculty is the opening by 2020 of training in 10 areas.
The creation of the department “Renewable and Low Energy” allows you to train specialists using unconventional sources of heat and power supply such as thermal heat, solar energy, and biofuels. Their use increases the level and quality of life of the rural population and increases the level of engineering arrangement of rural areas.
The department “Renewable and Small Energy” is conducting training in the direction of Thermal Engineering and Heat Engineering (bachelor degree) with a focus on Autonomous Power Plants.
The increase in labor productivity in the processing of agricultural products based on automation and robotization of the enterprises of the processing industry of the Southern Federal District is bringing a new level of technical and technological equipment. The department “Automation and robotization of the agro-industrial complex and biosystem engineering” has been created for training personnel in this area.
The department “Automation and robotization of the agro-industrial complex and biosystem engineering” prepares specialists in the direction of Mechatronics and Robotics with a focus Agro-industrial mechatronic systems and complexes.
The creation of the department “Processing and Packaging of Agricultural Products” provides the Southern Federal District with personnel to ensure food security and meet the needs of the population in a wide range of food products with a high level of processing.
The department “Processing and Packing of Agricultural Products” prepares specialists in the field of Food from plant materials with a focus on Fermentation Industry and winemaking technology (h) and in the direction of Printing and Packing Technology with a focus on processing and agricultural produce.
The training of highly qualified personnel for the agro-industrial clusters who own modern IT technologies will ensure the creation of the department “Information systems and technologies in the agro-industrial complex.” The department “Information systems and technologies in the agro-industrial complex” trains specialists in the direction of Information systems and technologies with a focus on Information systems and technologies in the agro-industrial complex.
To ensure the guaranteed production of crops, it is necessary to modernize and expand the acreage of irrigated agriculture. To solve the problem of providing personnel, the department “Hydrotechnical construction and hydraulics” was created, which trains specialists in environmental engineering and integrated use of water resources in the specialty Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures with a Specialization in Construction of Hydraulic Structures of Increased Responsibility.
Basic enterprises and strategic partners of the agro-industrial faculty: Group of companies “Yug Rusi”, OJSC “Plant of boiler equipment”, OJSC “Confectionery factory Kuban”, OJSC “Confectionery factory Mishkino”, OJSC “Millerovo oil extraction plant”, Millerovo, OJSC “Actis” Novocherkassk, Baltika Breweries OJSC, Rostov-on-Don, Don-Energo OJSC, Vissmann, Siemens, technical universities in Dresden, Munich and Ilmenau (Germany) and others.
